I found the build-up thead yesterday from carcrafter who installed the Crown Vic IFS on his F100 and I am sold!
I was definately planning on doing disc brakes up front...as well as lowering it and this swap accomplishes both....and seems to be a little cheaper as well.
I am not sure whether I will swap the rear axle or just keep it as is...maybe just do some lug adapters to match the 5x4.5 from the Crown Vic. Ayone have any comments, good or bad, about this setup?
if you can weld I would recomend swapping in a 1993 crown vic rear axle as well. its cheap and you get the 5x4.5 bolt pattern, limited slip, and can find different axle ratios or just spend the $150 on some new gears. I paid around $150 for my rear axle with disc brakes,3.27 limited slip, and the correct bolt pattern. The crown vc axle is a little wider than original so it matches the front track width much better but thats just for looks really.
I'm not sure what I want to do with the rear axle. I just know that I would like to run deep dish wheels in the back, so with the wider axle this might be fairly difficult.
I never made it to the end of your build up thread, but how did everything turn out? How do you like the ride height and ride quality of the IFS?
