treadwright/hi-tec retreading

Has anyone here had any experience with there reman'd tires,i certainly like the looks of there prices, and ive read some pretty good things about them in some of the 4wd magazines.
Ive got an extra set of 16x7 steel wheels, and i wouldnt mind getting something like 285/75/16's in a mudder type tread pattern

Like you all that I know is what I've read. 4wheel and Offroad just started a long term test on a set in their latest issue, we'll have to wait to see the results.

For a street tire and such its pretty decent. For the most part the bigger beefer tread does not last long. It'll rip off and such. I'm not sure where this line is drawn though.

Just throwing in what i've been told.

That sounds alright, and it appears they stand behind there product. I may just get a set shortly,it would be nice to have a set of mounted tires in a more aggressive pattern than the typical all-terrains....Ive got 9.50-16.5's on the one Ford now,the other one has 33x12.50x16.5 A/T's,and ive got 35x12.50x16.5's on Weld racing wheels,LT235/85R16's on white spokes, and a set of mid 90's 16x7 Ford grey steel wheels as spares, Hmmm!,if i keep accumulating extra tires and wheels,i may have to look for another truck as well!
Ive still got parking for 2 more, and an understanding wife!

I had a set of the mud terrains on my jeep cherokee, and they were GREAT in the mud. I can't really say how long they would last. I put 8,000 miles on them, then sold the jeep and got the truck I have now. I never had a problem with the tires at all, been thinking about getting a set for my truck, but the truck sees a lot of pavement as well as mud,and those tires SUCKED if the pavement was even slightly wet,and you weren't going to move in the snow without being locked in.

Im strictly looking at a set of the Mud's for the Ford,it gets driven at most 5000 miles a year, and with drum brakes all around and it being a Highboy,it gets driven conservatively on the road.

I'll go look for that one,and see if i can toss a few bombs, with the election over,i cant incite as many people there,so its back to the truck stuff!

maybe the green diamond would work on the A/T type tires, but on the mud tires on my jeep I posted earlier, the green diamond had no effect at all on on street traction. they sucked bad, which was ok because I mainly used the jeep for off-road stuff and only on the road when I was going to the woods to hunt/camp/whatever.

Yeah, if I were you I would fork out the cash for some good mud tires. I've owned retreaded A/T but i've only heard bad things about mud tires.

what specifically have you heard that was negative? This truck is by no means a daily driver, and while i want some fairly aggressive tires,im not planning on doing any heavy mudding. I only paid $1650 for the truck, and while ive got a few more bucks into it now,its still a cheap beater,so it doesnt make sense to spend a bunch of cash on tires...
