#7 piston looks like it cracked and blew apart. first I noticed blowby, then all of a sudden 'clunk', and it died @ low rpm. turns out the piston was in little tiny pieces, and the rod got wedged against a large chunk of piston, sending it into the water jacket.
Why would a piston break when all the others are totally fine.
Could this be blamed on flawed piston? (no, I'm not trying to get this warrantied)
background: 130K ish miles on stock bottom end. cruising when I noticed blowby, putting when it went 'clunk'. 3 weeks earlier used 70% methanol in water/meth injection at the 1/4 mi drags with no noticable side effects (at the time). I run 49% or less most of the time with no problem. one guy I know tells me the 70% is what caused it. Not sure what to believe, since I know of guys who run that rich on a regular basis.
If nothing else it was a good excuse to do more mods on a new bottom end.
Similar problems here but with totally stock motor. Check out my gallery for pics of my motor. Same thing also, one piston completely gone and the other seven look perfectly fine.
