very touchy brake

I think I have a brake problem, but I guess I'm not sure. It seems the brakes on my 96 are too good! I've noticed it within the last 6 months that it seems to be getting more noticalbe - when I barely touch the pedal, it about throws you out the front window, and the front and back brakes almost lock up. I thought I remember a writeup on this, but it was a while ago and I could not find it when I searched. Any ideas?

Thanks

i have a somewhat similar situation, but only when it rains and then i let the truck sit overnight. is your issue constant no matter what the weather is?

the guys at my shop said a very thin layer of surface rust can accumulate overnight- just enough to make brakes grabby for a while. after riding the brake for the first quarter mile, it clears up.

Its always very grabby no matter what the condition outside. Plus my truck is always kept in my barn so its always dry.

My 95 psd also has very touchy brakes. I suspect that the rear drums are warped a little. I just have not had time to take them off and get them turned.

the rear drums were turned / new shoes about 15k miles ago. Fronts were turned with new pads about 25k miles ago. This situation has happened since then. I put very few miles on my truck a year and most of the time I'm not hauling anything large so not a lot of extra wear and tear on my brakes. When I touch the brake pedal on gravel, all 4 tires will skid. When braking I also have no pull to one side nor do I feel any vibration - very smooth stopping, just extreamly touchy. I checked my fluid and I'm right at the full mark. I guess I will take a look at each wheel to see if there is any oil, dirt, etc causing the abrupt stopping. I would think however, after driving / stopping all day long it would get less grabby as time went on, but I dont feel any difference in braking relating to length of time driven.
