Accessory Boot for Turbo
I had my 07 E-350 PSD van in for work on the speed control. My dealer told me that the problem was a relay. He also said that I had a leak in the turbo accessory boot (I believe that is what he said on the phone) which was leaking considerable oil and causing a loss of power. Is there a diesel tech out there that could comment on this problem as I am not very mechanically savvy and would like to know a little more about this. I am glad they found it. Come to think of it, I do believe I have been smelling what seemed to be burnt oil for a while.

Back from the dealer. The ticket called it a CAT Boot. Sounds like what you said. Was leaking oil onto the alternator causing a loss of boost per the tech. Glad they found it. So far my dealer has provided excellent service, no waiting or appointments necessary. When I went in to pick it up at about 4:00 pm everyone was just standing around. Hope they make it through this financial crap.
