400 crank thrust width

I have a 400 crank I thought about having machined so I could turn the knocking 351M I took out of my bronco into a 400. The thrust width is supposed to be 1.125 +/- .001. This one is 1.140 and needs machining to clean up the surface. Are there wider thrust bearings available, or is this thing junk?

i don't have any reference at the moment to verify your specs but if it is indeed worn beyond spec, they add material by welding then machine it to spec. back in business. you could always just turn it in as a core on a fresh crank kit too.

thrust width on a 400/351M is suppose to be 1.133". So if you measure 1.140" you should have .007" clearance.

351C thrust width is 1.118"

FYI there are .010" oversize thrusts available anyway.

where does 1.133 come from? The only reference I have found to it is the 351C/M/400/429/460 book by Tom Monroe, which says 1.125 +/- .001

The sizes I gave are also actual bearing size.

I mic'd a few bearings here also to double check.
