I didnt get a chance to test anything today, but I did drive it into town, left it parked all morning while I was at my deal today, and she didnt skip a beat when I started her up, if its nice tomorrow im gonna check the alternator.
Keep the suggestions and tips coming fellas, Im gonna check (or double check) all of em!
So check for continuity between the pins of your alternator plug with the battery disconnected.
Mine didn't look too bad from the outside.
It was worth the $8 or whatever I paid.
I too was charging, bought a new battery, killed that overnight, tore my hair out trying fuses and stuff.
There must be a reason that a replacement plug is found all over the aftermarket....
how much draw would one have with a dvm and the battery disconnected, between the ground and the neg post? I have .38 after the relays kick off, and my battery drains over night. Unplugged the plugs on the alt nothing changed unhooked the light under hood minimal change, opend the glovebox and it went to.5, that too high or around what it should be?
I just had a go-round with Sears over a DieHard battery in our family van. They kept telling me the battery was fine because it would read about 12.4V after a full charge, last most of the week, then by Friday, it would be stranding my wife. Anyway, right before I was going to head back to Sears to chew the manager a new one and demand a new battery, I decided to pop off the vent caps and measure the voltages between the cells--should be over 2V between each adjacent pair of cells, but I had one pair that measured 0V, so there was my short. I didn't have to do any yelling, as I had a good case that the battery was bad. Just something else to check.
