The guys on this forum seem to very informed and helpfull. Maybe someone can help me. On my 89 F-250 the drivers side power window stopped working halfway down. Yes it was a cold & rainy day! The pass side works great and I chased the power all the way to the motor. all relays & fuses are fine. I'm assuming th motor is bad because of the wierd noise it makes & I was able to assist it to the up position. Now the questions. I can see 3 rivets near the motor. Drill these out? Is this as difficult to get out as it looks? Where is the best source for a replacement motor? Thanks for any help.
There are 2 dimples in the door panel, opposite the 2 concealed motor retaining bolts. Using a 1/2 in. (13mm) drill bit, drill out these dimples to gain access to the motor bolts. Be careful to avoid damage to the wires.
Remove the 3 motor mounting bolts.
Push the motor towards the outside of the door to disengage it from the gears. You'll have to support the window glass once the motor is disengaged.
Remove the motor from the door.
Installation is the reverse of removal. To avoid rusting in the drilled areas, prime and paint the exposed metal, or, cover the holes with waterproof body tape. Torque the motor mounting bolts to 50-85 inch lbs. (6-10 Nm). Make sure that the motor works properly before installing the trim panel.
...before I'd change the motor, I'd remove the other door switch as you say IT works. Lots easier to change a switch than a motor....and these switches go bad A LOT!!
