Bendix Box
I put seals in my Bendix power steering box over the weekend. There is nothing on this box in my 65 shop manual. Dose anyone know the torque specs for the preload on the worm gear bearings? Also the gap on the teeth on the rocker shaft?

There's a fair amount on overhauling this box in Vol 1 of the 1966 truck shop manual which I'd say would be the same for your year. In the specs it says:Worm bearing preload=2 to 6 inch/pounds and worm bearing and sector total mesh load= 10 to 13 inch/pounds.If I had access to a scanner to send the pages to you I would as there is a bit about set up of rack and sector gear lash etc. Hope this helps anyway.
