Just a comment
I survived Hurricane Ike 90 miles inland. My 87 6.9 stayed in Bridge City, which was the town that got the news coverage b/c of the town going under by the storm surge. I had water about a 6" OVER the shifter boot. She fired right up and drove onto the trailer we used to bring it to our new home. After draining and refilling the tranny and rear end, and repacking the wheel bearings, she drives as smooth as always, other than the mileage still sux.
