Hi guys, my truck has crapped out. It did it twice last week... The engine light came on, it was running rough, and had no power. I hoped it was a passing thing. This morning though, it did the same thing, only this time it didn’t pass. Any help is appreciated.
Sounds like it may be a CPS, Cam Position Sensor it's easy and cheap to replace
Dealers sell about $30-40
It's on the front of the engine about 10 oclock on the crank pulley.
Thanks Jim, when i replaced it the first time, about 6yrs ago, it had diffrent symptoms... it would just cut out once in a while. I was thinking the fuel pump. I may buy a code reader to see what code was tripped.
Next time it is running bad with the cel on or not ,,unplug the wires to the injectors one at a time ,,1 or 2 of them will not make a difference in the way it runs ,,could be a bad UVCH ,burned or loose..its a cheap test ....
Under Valve Cover Harness. At teh valve cover there will be two conectors on each of them. They go to the Injectors and Glow plugs. Unplug one at a time like Action said and see if it make a differance in the way it runs. and also look for brn plugs.
I didn’t get a chance to work on my truck too much last night. I did change out the cps though. It didn’t help. I will try the unplug thing you guys suggest tonight. I did open up my fuel filter, and the bowl was full. Does that mean the pickup pump is okay?
Thanks guys, I tryed the unplug thing. No change in the way it ran, took the valve cover off and there it was... burnt UVCH plug. I got the gasket, but I will have to go to the dealer to get the wireing that was burnt in behind the cover.
