Need Help guys !!

I plugged in my trailer brake control... the LED light on the front says everything is good and working.... NOW !! All my dash is out. My speedo, tack, lights, dome lights, headlights, everything is out ! No worky !

Where do I start ????? I'm going to unplug the trailer brake control again and see if that fixes it, but I must have blown a fuse ! Can anyone tell me which fuse controls all that stuff ????

Thanks guys

Russ

Got it guys... It was the #35 fuse ! I didn't have an owners manual to check what it would be.. That helped big time and I have book marked that owners manual for next time..

Thanks a bunch... you saved me some time today !!!

Here's the next question guys... A while back I was towing a u-haul trailer. Everything was good and all of a sudden my running lights went out on the trailer only.. I thought it was just the trailers problem, but when I hooked up to my trailer at home... the running lights didn't work on that either. Now on my new trailer, the running lights don't work. I've got power to the running light circuit with a test light at the plug in.. but the lights don't work ?????? I don't get that !!! I'm going to do some more testing in a couple hours... Just came in to make some phone calls !

Take a test light and check if have power at the pigtail at the rear bumper, to rule out the truck wiring/fuses or the trailer. I had multiple fuses blown on my truck when I first got it. There should be a fuse for running lights only under the dash.

OK.. I've tested all I can think of... When I test for power at the plug it gives me 12.43 volts on my 7 pin connecter and on my 4 pin connecter. I have 2 trailers.. one with 4 oin and one with 7 pin.. Neither one of the trailers has the running light working from my truck, but both have power to the plug. Both trailers have working running lights when plugged into another truck ???

This makes no sense to me.. If I have power... why do I have no lights ????

There may be something loose. You have the voltage but when a load is applied the voltage drops out.

This is what I'm thinking now as well Jim.... I don't know how the heck I'm going to find it though !!! Could be a bad fuse as well I guess. Its delivering the voltage as you say but not the amperage when a load is there !

Any other ideas will be appreciated.. I've only got a couple days to figure it all out before I have to make a big trip all across BC !

Thanks for the help guys !

I had a similar problem
unplug the harness behind the 7 pin plug and check connection there

I will try this tomorrow... That whole wiring harness is brand new a few months ago and when I installed it I plugged it in and taped it together with electrical tape... I sick of working on it right now and have to take a break... I've never seen anything that has 12.4 volts to it.. not light up ??? I tested the ground, i've tested more than I can think of... I'm pretty good at wiring and my brother is an electrician for the biggest hospital in our area and he can't figure out why it wouldn't light up either !

Thanks for the ideas !!!

Check the ground lead at the 7 and 4 pin truck connectors. Sounds like trailers are not grounded to truck.
