EFI power adders

i have a 95 f150 with a 300-6 with speed denisty. i love this truck but its a bit sluggish at times. i have read many success stories of this awsome engine but i dont have the money to redue the whole motor. i want to put in a new cam but i dont know how extreme i can go without compromising fuel economy. the engine is currently bone stock aside from a worthless throttle body spacer. i was also looking at headers but have heard mixed opinions on them. if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

There's not much at all for these engines in terms of off the shelf bolt ons that will make a big difference. Tons for the 5.0 and up, but not us sixers. Most would suggest accepting the engine's fate as dependable mule rather than trying to make it haul ***....sorry couldn't resist...

Anyway, if you're set on making the six scream with power - and some people are - then start with this site Ford Six Performance: The Web's Leading Resource for Ford Inline Six-Cylinder Engines and Cars!

i would not remeconding changing cams the cam in the eng is tuned with the rest of the equision from air intake through valve train to exaust itif you want to change one without changing the rest is just asking for more prolbems . if you think you have a lack of power then check you basisics check vac at idle "mainfold vac" and compression test will give you a better picture.

Thats not true. I'll give you one example why its not, the same camshaft is used in all 240/300 engines whether efi or carbed, and noone is gonna convince me that this camshaft is "tuned" for both, it may work well but thats about it, there are better camshafts.

Suppliers go with the market and there just is not a big market for parts to modify the 300 and one won't find these slow moving items on the shelf if at all for the EFI engine.

Motorhead351, optikal illushun, and a few others have done probably more research and work on getting more out of the EFI 300 than one can shake a stick at. A book could be written on what they have posted on this Forum. Sit back, relax, and do a bunch of reading.
