Have 95 F-150 supercab 4x4 5.8 auto.
speedo started to go crazy and shifting hard and engine running rough
changed the sensor on rear end didn't help
Please Help
Might be the electronic transmission shift sensor going bad. My O/D light will start blinking once awhile causing rough shifts. As soon as I pull over and turn it off then back on it's good to go.

Thanks for the replies. Messed with the connection on the rearend sensor and the wiring harness and the problem went away for now .
will check for codes as soon as I am able to.
Again "Thanks" for all the comments
Truck started to act up again today. Tried running the self-test and got no codes. The engine light lit up and stayed on.
Tried checking the sensor connection and messing with the wiring harness and got no response this time.
Any one have any sugestion what to do next??????????????
Finally able to pull codes and it shows only the EGR valve opening not detected, nothing that would mess with the transmition problem.
Any thoughts??????
I think you have a wiring problem between the PCM (computer) and the rear axle sensor. Look for a broken wire, short, chafed wire, corroded connection, etc.
Odometer seems to still be working right ,haven't seen it go blank.
Haven't found any broken or corroded wires. Tring to check conductivite on the wire to the front of truck. everything seem to be ok
i have 1990 f150 4x4 300 i6 auto. to make a realy long story shorter,
my problem was the brass colored gear at the transfer case at end of spedo cable, i was breaking the plastick gear on the spedo cable, thus cousing the speedomitor to jump spratickly (sory bad speller) it was the gear in the transfer case that was bad. > this was shorter story then when my wier to anersa switch caroded. yes thats fun dropping a gass tank for no reason to put new pump in.
