While im waiting for my stage 1's to come back from rosewood, i am trying to track down my oil leak. I have the turbo and pedastal removed. And also i am changing transmissions, so that is also removed. I have the o-rings for the turbo on order. I was just wondering if anyone suggests anything else i should replace while i have this all apart. Thanks
Yessiree Bob I have a suggestion. Plowhand suggested blowing low pressure air though the oil passage in the pedestal base when I was going through the same thing. He had done this and found bad seals/bushings in the turbo. When I had mine out to replace o-rings the second time (because the first time didn't work,) we did this and what we discovered was a hairline crack in the center section of the turbo. That's why I was leaking oil at a rate of one quart in about 75 miles -- not the o-rings. Luckily Rubber Duck just happened to have one laying around, so I suffered no down time because of it.
So definitely, use that trick that Plowhand told us about. It saved me a lot of wasted time and frustration.
I believe from the pump to the canister is 3/8 300psi, and off the side of the regulator 5/16 300psi. Get 2 feet of each and you should be able to replace all the hoses in the valley. Heck, if you go that far, get an oring kit for the fuel bowl. If the HPOP has any leak marks, get an oring kit for it too. That should about do it.
im glad the only leak my truck has is the damn oil drain plug, change the oil one time and it leaks next time it doesn't. i just don't want to torque it down so hard that it strips it, even tried replacing the little gasket on the plug

But with the tranny out, uppipes for sure.
I do have an oil leak that looks like it leaking from under the HPOP. Is it a easy job to pull the HPOP off and replace the gaskets?
Matt, the seal kit is only for the two lines and one other plug. All of which you should be able to do on the truck. But if you want to pull the pump, I have a detailed writeup on it. Search "SD HPOP writeup part 1". It's really not hard, just takes some time.
