If I can remember correctly, they are 2°, but clean the thing off and you will find that 0°, 10° and possibly 20° and 30° are actually labeled. The damper marks are usually marked from 30° Before TDC to 10° After TDC. FYI, the marks and numbers are stamped into the damper, you can't wear them off. Clean the thing off with some acetone or brake cleaner.
I cleaned it off real well before I painted it and the only number that showed up was the 30 BDC, the tick marks, and a vague ADC. I can still see most of the tick marks and I already marked TDC. When I had the heads off I turned the crank until piston 1 was all the way up and when I put the pushrods back on it just so happened that both valves were closed on piston 1. So I am assuming this is TDC.
Also, do you know what kind of advance and spark plug gap I should be running with this engine for max horsepower? I am not worried about gas mileage.
