Okay, Yesterday I finished installing a 3" body lift(performance accessories) changed all the body mounts with energy suspension
what a pain in the A$$ that was, thats something I'll never do again
I'll pay someone next time, anyways when it came to installing the steering wheel shaft extension, it wouldn't fit, problem was the shaft coming out of the steering box is splined and the same thing with the original coupling, the part that came with the bodylift kit
is not splined but, squared like so it doesn't fit unless I pound it in, and I'm not about to do that, I would like to know has anyone encountered this problem, and if maybe performance access. put the wrong part in the kit, its as if they forgot to machine the spline
grooves in the adapter on both ends... I don't really care for body lifts but, I got tired of rubbing my bumper on turns...Please help any info would be appreciated...
it's a 93 f-150
6" superlift
extended radius arms
super runner steering
35" Goodyear MTR
15x10 Alcoa classics
I am pretty sure that the steering shaft adapter goes inside the cab, where it should be square, not down by the steering box where it has splines. Check under the dash and look at the steering shaft, mine is square.
What problems did you run into with that body lift? I thought mine was pretty simple.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Oct-02 AT 07:32 PM (EST)]same with mine, it was square goes through the cab not at the box.
by the way i just got gap guards and they look excellent. worth 80 bucks and 10 minutes.
I am mixed about the gap guards. I bought them and put them on. I would have liked them to be a harder plastic (like the inner fender) instead of the heavy rubber. But they do the trick.
I put a Trail Master body lift on my truck...but it didn't come with anything for my steering shaft. Now it is at a very steep angle that doesn't look too healthy for my plunger joint at the gear box.
I was wondering exactly what your kits came with...so maybe I could order one of these...????
