Winterizing

I too have an 03 with the 6.0. I've run mine through my first winter with it last year. This is my daily driver so I'm a little different from you.
You are right on the comment that the truck likes to be worked. In my case, I haven't been able to afford my travel trailer yet so it's heavy work is ahead of it. Mine gets occasional towing jobs hauling gravel, sand, etc. so it does haul. There have been several long trips from WV to TX, NH, and FL with the crew cab full and the bed full of baggage.
For winterizing, I've done little. I plug mine in at night...the heater makes a huge difference during startup...the warm oil isn't as thick as cold oil...makes for a quicker start and takes the strain off of the starting system. The other thing is to change from the gray bottle to the white bottle of Power Service. The white bottle has an anti-gel ingredient so the fuel won't gel during colder weather...thats it.
My truck had 34K miles on it when I bought in Feb of 07...it has 80K on it today...keep driving it through the winter...just run it through a car wash...I just have to pull the mirrors in a little and there's no problem.
Good Luck Pal

My son and I just changed both fuel filters and the oil filter less then 1000 miles ago with motorcraft filters. I will plug the heater in over nite. I'll try to drive is as much as I can. I'll also switch to the white bottle of Power Service. Its just sickening to drive something this nice thru the crap in NY during the winter.

Thanks again for both of your advice!!
Phil
I hear ya about these NY winters. I think they just love to salt the roads. I dont drive mine that much anymore. I do try to drive it once a week or so just to exercise the turbo. I have a company car that I drive all the time for the FD so needlees to say my truck sits alot. As long as I drive it once in about a 2 week span its ok...plus its kept in a climate controlled garage anyway.
