351M/400 swap
I went to an estate sale recently just to browse.
Turned out the widows husband had alot of complete engines just sitting. Of course everyone just had to have the Chebby engines, and there was alot of bidding wars on them.
I spotted a very clean 351M/400 with a aftermarket aluminum intake. I ended up being the only bidder and got it for $35. He had four other 351M/400s that nobody bid one. The auctioneer told me she wanted the building cleaned so she could sell the property, so I got four free motors that all turn over !
I dont need them, but thought Id keep them around in case my Pickups 351M or the Galaxies 400 ever goes bad.
Heres my question: If I drop one in my 351M pickup, will the manual transmission 351M flywheel work (the 400s are autos)that is, is it internally balanced ?
Im guessing that aside, it should bolt right in ?
Right now I have one on a stand Im tearing down to see if its in good condition.

Sounds like you got a heck of a deal! You could scrap probably 2 of them and get your money back and be able to get some lunch!
You can swap flywheels and flexplates between 351m's and 400's with no problems. The balancer on the front is what's different. This is what I have been told. My .02 cents.
