Turn signal switch with cruise control

I have a unit i bought on ebay for my 1979 non tilt 4spd, it has an extra wire, i was told it was for a cruise control, I paid $125 for it. I have not installed it, was told it was NOS. I actually bought the correct type NOS for around $60. When I get home today I will post more info and any numbers I can find. If any one hads any detail on how to make sure it is a cruise unit let me know.
I would sell it for what I paid for it plus shipping.

You not only were lied to, but you got taken on the price.

There is no I repeat N-O Cruise Control specific turn signal switch for any 1978, 1979 F100/350.

The only F100/350's & Econolines that used the specific Cruise Control turn signal switch are 1975's; 1976's; 1977's.

Here's what ALL 1978/79 F100/350's, Bronco's and Econolines used.

All these T/S switches are STILL available from Ford.

D8TZ13341A = Use with Tilt Wheel only.

MSRP: $136.92 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $97.92
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
D8TZ13341B = Use with all Automatic Transmissions (non Tilt)
MSRP: $110.00 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $79.20
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
D8TZ13341C = Use with all Manual Transmissions (non Tilt)

MSRP: $105.98 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $76.31
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
THAT'S IT!
Q's for number dummy. Why does on turn signal unit have a little wire in the middle of the switch and the other does not ? They both plug in under the dash, once they are install I do not know where this extra wire goes to, I was told it work with the horn pad that had cruise control 1978-79.
1978/79.
If you have cruise, you could also also have a tilt wheel.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe one wasn't available without the other. FTE member Ranger429 would know for sure. I'll see if he's online and ask.
Don't take this the wrong way, but do you even know how the tilt wheel works?
Since it operates by way of the turn signal handle, you'd be amazed on how many peeps have a tilt wheel and don't know that.
The later stuff has a separate lever to operate the tilt wheel, these older models do not. The same thing holds true for most of the 1966/79 cars.
Hold the wheel, pull the handle towards you...gently, see what happens.
EDIT: I sent Ranger429 a P/M waiting for his answer.
Just thought of something...
You bought this switch on ebay, how do you know it's correct?
Did it come in a box? All T/S switches came that way originally.
On the T/S switch is a paper ID tag that is glued to itself around the wires, has a ID code of D8TA-13B302-AA or something close to that.
Post the numbers from the box, post the ID tag code.
Since most ebay sellers are klewless, you may have bought the wrong switch.
Turn signal facts
I am back with some numbers. I am talking about the turn signal unit that goes to the steering colunm, the wheel must be removed to install this part. It cancels your turn signal after turning. the part Number is FORD D6AW13B302-BA SXF BP.It is paper tag on the part. It has a black short wire with purple stripes with a white plastic clip for somethihg. I was told this would fit my 1979 F150 4x4 non-tilt, non-cruise, 4spd. It looks just like the part that is in my truck and functional except this extra wire that is black with purple stripes and a white plastic clip on the end, I was told this clip was for the cruise control on the horn bar. I am not using it. The part is suppose to be NOS, I paid $112.00 which included the shipping and handling, not $125.00. Number dummy help me out.
There's no EZ way to tell you this, you bought the wrong switch.
D6AW-13B302-BA = D6AZ-13341-B
Application: 1973/78 LTD w/fixed column / 1973/74 Pinto / 1973 Mustang w/fixed column.
(D6AZ-13341-B > > replaced > > D3AZ-13341-A = Info source: 1/1991 Ford O-S-I [Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange] Catalog)
T/S application info source: 1973/79 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog / Text / Section 130 / Page 19.
I asked FTE member Ranger429 whether 1978/79 F100/350's that have Cruise Control also have a Tilt Wheel.
He said he's never seen it any other way.
I also asked a friend who I consider the guru on these trucks, he said you couldn't get one without the other.
Bottom line: If you have Cruise Control, you also have a Tilt Wheel, which means you need:
D8TZ13341A .. T/S Switch use with Tilt Wheel / MSRP: $136.92
Buying it from FTE partsguy.com it will cost you $97.92.
turn signal
Thanks for the information, so I bought a mustang/ ford car part. What is this extra wire for ??? I went out to the garage and pulled my steering wheel and installed this car part and it works fine, cancel the turn signal both right and left. I do not have cruise or tilt on my 1979 F150. So again what is the extra wire for ??? The turn signal that was in my truck looks exactly the same except the extra wire-black with purple and a white plastic clip.
If you have a manual trans without cruise/tilt, the '73/79 truck parts catalog calls for:
D8TZ13341C which is $105.98 / FTEpartsguy.com price: $76.31.
I was a Ford partsman for 35 years, not a mechanic. I know what part fit what application, so...
From that D6AW-13B302-BA engineering ID number you posted, I know that's the in-correct switch for your truck, which is the reason for the extra wire.
btw: The switch you bought = D6AZ-13341-B (D6AW-13B302-BA) is obsolete.
There are 11 Ford dealers in the US that have a total of 14 D6AZ-13341-B's still in stock.
Not only can I look all this jazz up, but search for the parts, too.
They sell a T/S switch they say is D5TZ-13341-B, but is that really the correct part number?
No, it is NOT ~ It's D3TZ-13341-B !!
Their site sez D5TZ-13341-B fits 1973/77 Bronco's with A/T (It does not) and all 1973/77 F100/350's with A/T (It only fits 1975/77's with Cruise).
1973 Bronco's use DOTZ-13341-C with A/T or M/T.
1974/77 Bronco's use D3TZ-13341-B with A/T.
1973/77 F100/350's also use D3TZ-13341-B with A/T, but 1975/77's with Cruise Control do not use this switch.
Since you skimmed this, maybe you missed something.
D8TZ13341A .. T/S Switch-Use with Tilt Wheel ~ A/T, M/T, 2WD, 4WD makes no difference.
If the: F100/350, Bronco, Econoline has a Tilt Wheel, there's only one switch.
Application: 1978/79: F100/350, Econoline & Bronco.
MSRP: $136.92 / FTE partsguy.com price: $97.92.
