The fist one looks fairly good and probably is the better buy with hopefully less rust to fix. The second one could be an expensive one to redo because of the rust, I`m sure that as usual there`s alot more than what is seen or the ad states. In the end it would be a nicer driver with the V8.
I would yank the 6 bangher out and install a v8 in the first one.
I would imagine the body panels wouldnt be that much for stang number 2 would they? I know getting them installed and finding the hidden rust would be alot.
Getting body panels or most parts for an early Mustang is one of the cheapest things you can do, they`re peanuts and they`re very plentiful compared to any other vehicle in the same years.
The labour remains the same whether it`s a Mustang or any other car, very expensive if you want it done even close to being right!
I haven't seen a '66 John Player's Mustang...since well about April or May of '66. It was a promotional car, that was given away, painted in the style of the Player's cigarette colours.
They had one on display at the down town Winnipeg Hudson's Bay store which is a huge store, BTW.
I went to see it when I was a teenager. At the display was the famous British racing driver...Stirling Moss. I got there when the Bay opened, it was just me and Stirling Moss. I was too shy to even say hello. Talk about a missed opportunity.
That picture of the Player Mustang brought back memories.

Thats what i thought, that the stang parts were very cheap and plentiful, another good reason to get one!
As for the labour, I still think a guy could figure out how to do it right, but it wouldnt be the fastest job done.
When I get a shop I would really like to get into that sorta thing, i love messin with metal and welding, add that to my love of vehicles and...
I always tell people I can do anything that any professional does, just as good, it just might take me a few trys, a few extra bucks, and alot of extra time haha.

A pretty cool story, at least you got to see one of the original JP Special Mustangs with Stirling Moss in person and make a special lasting memory.
