Thanks for the responses I have had so far. This question is for all you who kow about this stuff more than me (Which is probably all of the members) If you had a 52 F1 with a 215 motor, and wanted a syncronized transmission (to replace the stock four on the floor) (Column and overdrive would be nice but not priority) and you didn't want to completly move or butcher the rear cross member (as thats where the foot pedals bolt up). What transmission would you choose? Thanks, John
I personally would keep it stock. JMHO
I am having the same problem with my 56f100 project. Should I go 3 speed on column or 4 on the floor? It all comes down to how much money it will cost to swap it all out and make it work--and which will be more valuable later on. Bill
John, I'm not familiar with the 215 in a Bonus Built (it is rare), but I've been down the same road as you and the only solution that has any hope of working without major work on the c'member is the Ford 4-sp OD trans from the '80's. It MIGHT fit, but without seeing which crossmember you have, I couldn't say. Do a search on it, I can never remember what the trans is call, T-85? something like that. Also, we'd need to see what your bellhousing looks like, it may be a type that can be adapted to other trans.
