I have a 1970 F-100 with a 360 FE block. I have only gotten it to run once after i purchased it(the engine quickly ceased due to no oil flow). I have now deployed to Iraq and am looking to start buying parts and sending them home so I can rebuild the engine when I get home. The issue I'm having is I have never rebuilt an engine or even if this engine can be rebuilt. If it cant be rebuilt I know where I can get a 390 bare block for next to nothing. I was thinking of replacing the rotating assembly to that of a 390 or 410. other then that I'm up for suggestions. It wont be a daily driver so fuel cost isnt as much of a concern. I would love to get the truck in show condition. My ultatimate goal is to restore this and a mid 60's-mid 70's fastback or T-Bird and haul the car to shows in this truck.
Saidyene, Thank you for your service and welcome to the forum.
Those parts are still pretty easy to come by, I would suggest to sock the money away so you have it to use and wait until you are ready for the rebuild. The 410 is a house puller, but a 390 or the 360 will pull a car trailer effortlessly.
One can be away from the scene and tend to do things that he might not do after the project got under way with grease under his nails.
