I have a 99 ford 150 4x4, auto, tritionv8. For the past 2 months or so, I have been experiencing a slight shuddering in the rear (transmission??) under the following circumstances. The cooler it is the more pronounced the shuddering. It occurs first thing in the morning or when the truck has been parked for some time. As I back the truck out and I place the vehicle in drive and I begin to accelerate forward…I detect a slight shuddering from the rear of the truck. I have been thinking it was coming from the transmission, but maybe not?? The shuddering is slight and smooth, but noticeable…it seems like something in the rear wheel is slipping and then catches hold. There is no abruptness in the shuddering, but I feel it each time the vehicle has sat still for some time. The shuddering goes away very quickly and does not reoccur until the truck has been parked. Note: First thing in the morning the shuddering takes place after I back the truck out of my drive and place in drive and accelerate. The shuddering next occurs when I stop at stop sign and then accelerate into trafffic….I feel the shudder ever so slightly as I accelerate and then it smooths out and goes away. The shuddering does not reoccur again until the truck has been parked for some time. So for the wordiness, but maybe you can help. PS. I have had the truck transmission computer diagnosed by the dealer and they reported that no codes were detected.
HI. I HAVE A 98 F150 4X4 SUPER CAB THAT HAD THE SAME. KIND OF PROBLEM. IT'S AT THE DEALER GETTING A NEW CLUTCH PACK PUT IN THE REAR END.I THINK YOU GOT THE SAME PROBLEM.THE LIMTED SLIP IS TRYING TO LOCK UP.IF YOU TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY IT SHOULD BE A FREE FIX.
I have a 1997 F150 4.6 v8 auto. I had a similar problem. My turck would vibrate at slow speeds and when it shifted into overdrive. I replaced the transmission filter and put in new fluid. This seems to have cured the problem. Hope this helped!
I had a studder coming from the rear of my truck but it was most noticable going around corners... the problem was in the limited slip... WHY?? because a mechanic who replaced a leaking rear end seal didn't know enough to put synthetic lube in the rear end!!! (the repair was made at a Ford garage... I should have fixed the thing myself!!!)
