Water Dripping

My 04 6.0 is dripping coolant (running or not) from the back of the engine on the passenger side I can't tell exactly where it is coming from, it looks to be running around the back of the head and dripping down on the starter. The truck runs pulls and performs great and starts well. It has 60k on it. any ideas?
thanks

There are a few possible locations you can lose coolant at that area.
- oil cooler - if the gasket is damaged
- EGR cooler - gasket/ o ring damage or EGR itself leaking
- EGR cooler coolant deaeration port - that's the small hose going towards the degas bottle from the intake area.
To pinpoint where you losing coolant will be a PITA, be patient.

Check the heater controll valve, it's right above the passenger side valve cover near the back of the engine. I have changed dozens of these because of leaking.

I have the same problem with my '03. It has happened twice in as many years. It seam to happen after an all-day run just when the weather changes towards cold. I have identified the problem as being the short hose that runs between the oil cooler and the egr cooler. It's on my list to change one of these days. It may be a warranty issue as I have read elsewhere in FTE; my truck is out. Good luck.

Was it a cooler day than usual when you seen the leak? and was it a warmer day when it went away? If so, it's more than likely the EGR cooler hose. Mine acted the same way. When its cold and the hose shrinks, it leaks. When its warm and the hose expands, the leak seals. Its about a $30.00 part but a pain to get at.

Here is a good picture of where to look.
