I remember those feelings when I lived in Denver. Its just backwards out here, I cry when the air is on. It has been on for 7 months now. I am ready for my electric bill to drop some before I put up all my Christmas decorations and light. My bill jumps by more than $100 with all the crap I put up in December.
That would be ideal and keep me from blowing fuses and tripping breakers. Two years ago my dad got tired of hearing me bitch about tripping the breakers so he got me a turtle/spider box. He put an extra breaker in the panel and hooked the box up to it. The box has 10 plug ins on it and I fill all of them, I fill most of them with extension cords to I can reach all of my yard. I think last year I had over 50 strands of lights up out front along with reindeer, polar bears, snowman, santas, ect ect. I go a little over board, I even have stuff to put on the truck at the holidays.
My wife and I didn't use the a/c for the 5 days I was home. She's been cutting back quite a bit when I'm gone, too. We open all of the upstairs windows and turn on the ceiling fans. They're much cheaper than the monster a/c unit.
I've seen a few home-sized wind turbines. One was pretty slick: made out of clear acrylic so that it wasn't an eyesore. I'd love to put 5 of those on the roof and start selling power to my neighbors.

I have been trying to open the doors and windows in the morning to get some cool in before it gets warm but it seems someone is always sleeping in my house. Troy works graves so he sleep during the hottest part of the day and I need to keep it cool for him. He won't let me have any windows open at night when he is gone, I understand why but it makes me crazy.
Ahhh yes sleeping during the day would indeed be a tough thing to do with the windows open. It's been a long time since I worked nights, but the a/c was on all day long.
Good afternoon everyone! Hope your Sunday is a nice relaxing one!
I am watching the cards game right now, go cards! I can't stand the SL Lams.... Heading over to my parents in a li'l bit for my uncles/grandpa 65th birthday, we are going to cook up some fish from our trip to Alaska last year. Nothing better than beer battered halibut, gilled salmon, baked ling cod and snapper, hush puppies and some killer deserts.
