I have a 1990 F-150 with a 6" coil spring lift and 3" body. I have found a 1974 F-250 with dana 44HD front axle. What has to be done to the axle to receive the coils and how does the steering need to be changed?
I dont really know but im guessing if the axle was set up for leafs you could weld the little coil perch thing on. Maybe make it taller and get some more lift out of it. just an idea.
I'm working on a similar conversion for my 93 F150 4x4. I also bought a Dana44HD. I was going to weld spring perchs where the leaf springs mounted, but I'm not sure how to mount the radius arms. I've been thinking about a 4-link setup with rodends and a panard rod. I believe you can change to "DANA 44 Hi-Steer/Cross Over Arms". They are forsale on ebay all the time. Just do a search, on ebay, on the above phrase in quotes. You can see these arms installed at www.shakerbuilt.com.
