Thanks Neil. I've pretty much finished the basement. Our family room is the last room in the house with the dark, 70's-ish wood color. Plus, there are these cedar beams that go across the ceiling, that really make the room look small, so I'm taking those out. Also veneering all the cabinets with oak, making new oak doors, and putting a tile over the brick on the fireplace, just to give it more of an updated look. Work is currently at a standstill, it's naptime for my daughter!
Hey back bigger slacker! How's it going Randy. Man, have any of you ever scraped off that popcorn crap that they spray on ceilings? What a pain. Figured out that a metal ice scraper, the kind you would use on a sidewalk, works really well, Just very messy!
Pat softens the stuff up and helps keep dust down unless some one painted it which your not supposed to
I agree, Ive done a couple of those and if you put water in a sprayer then spray the texture, let it soak up, then it should come right off. Just be sure not to scrape to hard or you may dig into your drywall. Oh yeah, cover your carpet up or else you will have a hell of a mess. GOOD LUCK, that job sucks no matter how you do it.
