Battery Charging

Getting ready for winter. I cleaned all the posts and now I want to give it a full charge standing in front of the truck looking at the batteries should I hook the charger to the left batt. or the right seeing they are hooked in series?

what I always do is hook to possitive on one battery and negative on the other, that will balance the charge fully between them

The batteries are wired in parallel. If they were in series you would have 24 volts coming out of them. The best way to charge the batteries is to disconnect them and do them seperatly. If not go to positive on one and negative on the other. Why, if you don't mind me asking, do you feel the need to give them a full charge? If the alternator is working correctly they should already be fully charged.

Thanks for the replies. I have found that every vechile I have owned a trickle charger will always charge deeper than the alt. It gives the batteries a complete charge and seems to rejuvenate the battery so I do it once or twice a year.

if batteries are known to be good there is no need to charge them separate
