Been tryin to get ahold of LIPD, finally got email from them and said they are going to sell them on ebay go figure. If you find an alternate let me know as well.
ebay is what they told me too. I'm tring not to bother them too much, but the last couple of times i've re-asked about when the auction would be up the replies say something like... "'let me see if my washers came in today'", a week later its '"we'll take a pic tonight for the auction'"...and then another week or so goes by and no auction. I was just hoping to maybe find a retailer for them that might stock the item; guess not though.
Is a crossover line almost as good as a regulated return? I do not plan on any big mods just my SCT and maybe when they need to be replaced some towing injectors and a towing turbo, but not until the old ones go. I am also thinking of a Fass or Airdog over the winter. I do see my fuel pres. drop when I get on it with the ASE tune in.
M12x1.5...the ports on the rear of the heads are the same thread as the fuel lines feeding the front...the driver's side fuel line in the front is easy enough to remove to check sizing if needed...be careful not to lose either of the copper sealing washers if you pull the banjo bolt out..the plugs on the rear of the heads are the only silver plugs back there...they are both right in front of the up pipes...a 6mm allem wrench is needed to remove..modify the tool as neccesary...it is a very difficult area to work in if you go from below...it's a little easier if you pull the fender liners and try to get them from the sides..
a crossover line maily equalizes the fuel pressure between the cylinder heads..the stock system is a regulated return with the fuel dead ending at the back of the heads and the pressure is regulated at the fuel bowl before entering the heads...an aftermarket regulated return (ITP kit for example) will allow the fuel to flow through the heads and the pressure is regulated after the fuel exits the rear of the heads..an aftermarket kit will have the hardware and bigger lines to support increased flow...
if you plan on a FASS in the future, a regulated return is hard to tune with the FASS..both the RR and FASS work off of pressure set points...if the FASS is set lower than the RR, the RR never flows anything back to the tank(expensive fuel line kit)...If the RR is set lower, the FASS doesn't return back to the tank(loss of air seperation benefit)..
a crossover setup with larger lines to the top of the motor is all you really need for a FASS...
I have a regulated return
and I did something different...i mounted a second HFCM on the frame rail right in front of the rear axle...
I also put in a bigger pickup tube in the tank and larger lines from the back to the front HFCM...the pumps are plumbed in series..
200% reliability and it'll keep up under "heavy" loads with stock injectors..
Please forgive me I don't know what the acronyms mean:
HFCM = Hi Flow Control Module?
FASS = Fuel ?
I don't tow anything really big ...about 4000 lbs.....Do I need something over stock?
HFCM=Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module...It's the stock fuel pump, first pass fuel filter, water seperater, WIF light sensor, fuel heater(if it hasn't been deleted), and it'll send returned fuel back to the top of the motor under certain conditions...It's mounted under the driver's seat on the inside frame rail...
With stock tuning you should be fine as long as you keep up on the filter maintenance...A bad tank of fuel can ruin your day very quickly though...If you ever get gauges, include a fuel pressure gauge...
Thanks, I did install a Banks six gun. Yes I know they arn't very popular here but for $150.00 it works very well for me. I am considering putting in a diesel fuel pump for as transfer pump, filling lawn mower etc... should I get the entire HFCM and emulate your set up? Is there a benifit for doing your type reurn setup? sorry for all the qeustions but I'm new to the 6.0.
Does anyone know if there is another supplier besides LIDP? I'm having an impossible time getting them to sell me their kit
I also would like to know, thank you very much for bringing this up
If anyone can share some info on another source whose willing to sell the crossover
without the full purchase of a RR system,it would be greatly appreciated by many
Just a heads-up...the x-over kit is now posted on Ebay. I got mine, and believe it said that there were 7 left.
LIDP's Ebay name is dieseltechnologies.
