F350 2007 manual transmission. Last year I was getting 17 MPG. Now at 20000 miles I get about 13MPG empty, 9 or 10MPG with a 14-15000lb trailer. I take it easy, shift before 2000RPM by the book. My trips are mostly 25 miles one way. Changed the oil every 5000mi, air filter clean, no water in the fuel system, never left the gas tank go below half. Is this MPG normal? Could it be a problem with the programming? I am inclined to buy an SCT from Innovative Diesel or to try that Eefuel that’s supposed to completely burn the fuel. I’ll appreciate any advice / suggestions.
Thanks
It started during the summer. However, for the last 2 mo I did pull 15K lb 5 days/week with 9-10 MPG. I stopped doing that now and I was expecting my mileage to go back to 15-17 or so. I am still at 13 after 3 weeks or 5 fill-ups.
Are you going by the computer's MPG calculator or is this hand calculated mileage? If you are going by the computer, it's gonna take a while for it to come back to "normal" The computer calculates your avg. consumption over a course of 1000 miles or so. It's not an instantaneous reading. Try resetting the MPG calculator and see what it reads then.
Most of the time low mpg means injector problems if you have good filters,fuel,A/A holds air.Need to see if you have any check engine light codes pulled from memory.Lets us know!
