1989 bouncy speedometer

is there a simple cure for the bouncy speedo on my 89 f150? at 45 it bounces like crazy. when i get up to 70 it levels out.

I'm not 100% sure, but on every other cable-driven speedo I've had to deal with, lubricating the cable (as I recall, I used a graphite-based lube) took care of the problem.

Is there any chance the cable could have gotten kinked somewhere? I reckon that could also cause it.

Also check that the cable is secured by the tap at the trans.

white grease works also

White grease does work, but any time I've ever used it, it gets pretty gummy.

I don't know if that would help or hurt in the long run ...

I always shot WD-40 down the cablesleeve top-to-bottom.

ok, i ill check out my cable. i have had it out a few times when in the process of putting in the clutch pedal and swapping in the transmission and engine from a dodge-cummins. its not too hard to pull out and slick up. thanks for the input.
