Today at work they were throwing out an electric fuel pump, its just a universal napa one. Its 4-6 psi and 35 gph, will this work on my truck if I install it after the tank selector?

Yes, it works great, I have a solonoide type 4-6psi pump right under the drivers seat by my aux tank switch and works great to prime most of the fuel system after you run it out of fuel. I Also used it to transfer fuel from aux tank to primary tanks. (I also can pull aux fuel to the engine and make the return fill which ever tanks is selected on the dash while the engine is running. I think most of that fuel flow comes from the lift pump though)
Some will say you need to bypass the lift pump on the block. I didn't but probably not a bad idea. Reason they say to do this is incase the lift pumps diapram gets a hole it in, it wont fill your crankcase with fuel
i also did this with mine i just went to autozone and got a block off plate for a big block chevy to plug the hole the stock put went into it works great.i bought another cheaper pump to put in my tool box if i run into issues its worth the swap
