Move over wheel stud!!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 24-Nov-02 AT 09:55 PM (EST)]In the old days, if you had a set of wheels you loved but they wouldn't fit the stud pattern on your truck, you could get the wheel stud holes in the axles and disks redrilled to the needed pattern. I haven't heard about this in years and wonder what is thought of it now. My '73 F-100 has the large (truck) 5 lug pattern and I want to convert to the slightly smaller car 5 lug pattern. I have disks up front (2wd) and a 9" with 28 splines in the rear. The wheels are beautiful American slotteds with the smaller Ford/Mopar pattern.
Will redrilling the stud holes weaken these parts, and if so, are there car disks and axles that will bolt right on? Thanks, Polkat
