I have an 02 4x4 f-250 lariat with the stock 5 star style rims. i currently run a 265 75 16 but i want to upgrade in size. will a pro comp 315 75 16 tire fit? or is it too wide for my rim. the only big towing i do is a 5 place v nose haulmark snowmobile trailer a few times a year. and until i get a leveling kit i can deal with the rub. suggestions? thanks. also i believe i have a 3.73 rearend
315s would be too big on the stock Lariat rims I believe. I noticed my 285s were wearing pretty bad on the inside of the wheel. Maybe someone with a bit more info will pop on.
I got 285-75-16,s D rated( E is recommended )on stock rims and thats as far as i would go with mine. I was asking on here also about tire size and everybody recommended not going over that size unless you had bigger rims, reason, the weight of our diesels and what everybody said above. I put these on my truck and the handling changed just a bit, more flex in the tire, not as tight in the turns. Welcome to FTE and good luck.
the 265 sized tire is the max size recommended for your rims. If u want anything bigger, get an 8 or 9 inch rim and u should be good to go

If you look into the Tire and Rim Association Book it will tell you 285s are too wide for a stock rim, a 285 needs at least a 7 1/2" wide rim. I ran 285s on stock rims for 6 years and i went thru tires faster than i should have. I just put them on 16x9 rims and it seems to ride better and the wear seems a little better. Just speaking from what i read in the T&R ASSOC. book and a little bit of experience. BUt i know alot of people who have had 285s on stock rims and no issues.
I am on my 3rd set of 305 70 - 16 on stock Lariat rims. I am getting 60 to 80K miles on each set. I know they are too big for the rims, but if you run the right tires, alignment is good and you rotate regularly, wear is not a problem. I am running Pro Grade Goodyear Silent Armors. I am not a Goodyear fan nomally, but these tires are the best tires I have ever run on any truck! They are not cheap, but they ride good, quiet and wear great.
