Yeps, should fit right in. However, two potential issues may need to be adressed:
1) trans linkages - most 6.9s use a vacuum controlled C6 trans whereas most 7.3s run an electronic E4OD, so you'll likeky have to swap the trans control devices on the driver-side of the IP. Additionally the C6 has a kickdown rod attached to the IP and the E4OD don't, here you can swap the throttle bracketry or you can entirely remove the kickdown from the C6, tis your call.
2) return lines - some engines have a steel return line attached to the top of the IP, and others run a rubber hose setup, so you may have to swap the fittings on top of the IP.
PLC is onto something, maybe making sure it ain't a turbo pump? Turbo pump will likely need the fuel screw turned down a bit when installed in a n/a engine.
The pump came out of a 89 7.3. The guy said that it did not have a turbo on it. Is there anything special about installing the pump? Anybody have a write up on how to do it?
Specials - remove the pump from the gear housing, but leave the gear housing bolted to the engine, also make sure you tighten the 3 studs between the IP and the gear housing before you fire it up. On top of the flanges where the IP meets the gear housing there should be two marks, line those up for easy base timing.
Well I got the pump installed. It is now spewing gray smoke. When I walk by it it burns my eyes (dont know if that helps identify it). Doesnt smell like coolant. Could it be just that since I used a 7.3 IP that it needs to be timed back? If so how much?
