My truck won't ever be a show truck, isn't ever going to be extremely rare/valuable...etc. When I first got it, I made the intentions here of making it a safe, reliable, clean driver. Even though I'm a long ways from repaint stage, I'm starting to collect some things now. I can get a brand new (albeit lesser quality) pair of fenders and a hood that will be ready to accept paint with minimal work, vs scouring every yard around looking for a good set. When it does all go back together, I'm not wanting to keep any trim/molding and therfore would have to fill in the holes that ones from the yard would most likely have.
When it really comes down to it its your truck and if thats all you can afford with time and money than go that way. I have heard that fenders and hood you can kind of get away with but you should stay away from getting things like doors from that quality.
Road salt, no. In fact, I would almost bet my entire next paycheck that the state of Mississippi doesn't even own a snow plow. I grew up in Maryland and also spent alot of time in PA as well.
Anyhoo....
I've seen some that weren't rusty, but nowhere near straight. I'm weighing on going towards the aftermarket fenders and hood, but gonna get some Ford doors from one of the yards around here. Also been looking for a seat, preferably one with the armrest/drinkholder. I've been busy on the interior and did ALOT of progress there.
