Just bought my first Ford Truck. 08 F 250 SD. I've always had Chevys. After the troubles they have been having with banks going out, Ive decided to try a Ford for my towing. I trolled different sites to get the lowdown on what people have been using for hauling. I've had it for 3 days and put my 24 footer behind it. I didn't even notice it(It was empty though.lol). Time for me to start looking for the upgrades. Gonna need a brush guard, tool box, maybe a lift and of course an edge chip.
So i have an 03 F-250 5.4l gasser with a Pro Comp 6.5 in lift with 37in BFGs. Looking around at some 40s that partly why I came to this site, to see if anyone has put 40s on with a 6 in lift. I'm looking forward to learning from everyone.

you can do it, but you will need to cut some fender and the front bumper a little to turn, and you will need to re gear your diffs. i run 40's with 12 inches of lift. i have 4.88 gears in mine and its a great combo with the manual trans. i tried 5.38 gears and that was too tall, reved way to high at speed, anything higher you wont have any nut at all for hills and what not and if you are an auto, itll be worse, burn it up!

Thanks. Yeah I figured I would have to some kind of cutting.
Hello All, New user on this forum. Just purchased first Ford in years. 2004 F350 Reg cab 6.0 with manual trans. I won't be putting a ton of miles per year, probably 8000 or so, I'm hoping to get several years of good service from this truck. I bought it with 130,000 miles and it seems to have been well taken care of.
hey all,
the names tom and i first began lurking here about 8 weeks ago in anticipation of buying a used super duty. Well after reading many posts, some praising the truck and some pretty scary ones about issues with the 6.o diesel i decided to pull the trigger and buy one. Its a 2007 super cab xlt diesel. Its been awhile since owning my last diesel truck and its good to be back to rolling with a diesel. And im not talking bout rolling coal either!!!
Its my hope that with all i can learn here i can make ownership of this higher mileage truck as good an experience and my last ford truck purchase a few years back.
Just a bit about myself.... married, 53 years old, living in southern vermont. For a living i work in the printing industry, but thats just to fund my passions for hot rods and harleys. At the time im a retired drag racer/ crew chief/ engine builder with hopes of getting back out on the track soon. Thanks in advance for all the help im sure to get here from guys willing to share their knowledge of fords. Its my hope that ill have something to offer in the way of giving back as soon as ive spent a little time under the hood of this beast.
Hello everyone, Im James. I live in North Dakota and I just purchased a 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty XLT with a 5.4L V8. It needs a bit of work but it runs great.
Been using the site and looking for awhile now info etc. I'm mostly a Mopar guy but like Ford as well. I own two Fords, Expedition and a F350 Powerstroker....uh make that three, a 1946 2n Tractor . Anyways reckon ill be chating with yall shortly. Guess i gotta get pictures, avatars and all that stuff posted up....we'll see.
Hey to all. I just joined this group. I'm a retired Postal worker and long time Ford F350 owner, although my taste has changed from 4x4 dump trucks with plows to a 2007 Harley Davidson edition crew cab to haul my retirement home and Harleys south for the winters.
Alright, here we go...
Hey to everyone! I have lurked in the darkness long enough...I used the forum for it's great info and insite for my 99' F-350 V-10 and now have learned more that I can process about my 08' F-250 PSD 4x4! I hope to evolve and ask good questions and soak up the environment! My 08' PSD is my first Diesel so I hope I treat her right and get more miles that I got out of my 99' V-10 (212K by the way). Come to think of it, it's my first 4x4 too! Thanks up front for all the hard data.
I also am a new RV'er. This summer the wife and I bought a 5th wheel and hauler combo. The hauler is a '01 550 7.3L ClassyChassis conversion.
It also has a BullyDog GT with the driving coach. I made the mistake of assuming that "tow mode" on the tuner replaced the Tow/haul mode.
After going through the mountains of WV, I lost the transmission, which was replaced in 03/10. After all that rambling, what is the proper towing using the BullyDog?
It's great to see so many new folks joining up! Take a few minutes to browse the forums and explore the site. Also, don't forget to drop by your local chapters and join up there as well. You can find them here:Regional Chapters - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
