Hello everyone!
I finally was able to get the registration process to complete successfully and I am excited to be able to contribute what I can.
About Me: I am a CMMS consultant which basically means I travel all over North America helping companies design maintenance strategy. I have worked with everything from Oil and Gas wells to airlines to municipal water systems to grocery stores. I have owned my own fabrication shop, I turned wrenches for a professional race team, I have raced motorcycles and cars. I gave up most of that for a family and three amazing kids.
About my truck: I received my 1968 F100 2WD long bed in trade for some motorcycle parts from my racing days. The truck barely runs and is a bit "rough" around the edges. My plans are to restore the mechanical systems, swap in a big block and auto trans, redo the interior and "vintage hot rod" the exterior. I like the idea of a 70's era hot rod shop delivery truck that got all of the left over bits thrown at it.
Anyway, what else do you want to know?

A big hello to all, I joined this group in the hope of learning a little about a C class motorhome I bought a few months ago.......it's a 1998 Gulfstream Ultra built on an E series Ford frame with a V-10 Triton engine. From what I've read so far, Ford didn't designate a number for this model.....350, 450, etc., and just called them a "Super Duty".
I've owned many Fords over the last 50 years. I presently have this motorhome and a Ford Ranger 4X4 extended cab.
We've been very happy with the "new to us" RV so far, and I hope to learn some maintenance tips from all of you.

New to the forum but not to the Ford. Dad always drove one and when I signed on my first 150 4x4 years ago I couldn't tell you how I felt.
Well the kids are grown and gone and it's time for the better half and I to have some free time. Was in a 2013 f150 and due to looking at a 5th wheel camper just moved into a 2014 f250. 1st 250 so with the aid of (search) here hope to stay on top of things like I did with the 150's. Thx for a great forum!

My name is Mark, and I have owned many Fords over the years.
Currently, we own one- a 98 Ranger that belongs to my younger daughter. We bought it from a retired DuPont employee (extremely well maintained) with 56,000 miles on it. 4WD, extended cab, 4.0 w/auto, and I quickly removed the pulse hubs and installed lockouts. It has been a fine truck.
I currently drive a 94 Dodge 2500 CTD, which has been a great truck. I have always been a Ford guy, but I will give this Dodge credit- it has given me many miles of trouble-free service, good fuel mileage, and strength. A lot of negative comments are made about Dodges, but I have found it to be no worse, and no better, than any other truck that I've owned. It has earned its keep, and respect.
Saying that, I am going to test drive an 04 F350 today. I hadn't been shopping, but like most guys, my radar is always on for a good deal. This truck is a regular cab, 4WD, 6 speed with a V-10 (which is why it is still for sale- no one seems to want that combo), XL package. I am a spartan kind of guy- the simpler a truck, the less to go wrong. So, the XL package is fine by me. The truck was owned by an old farmer who bought it to work, but lost his license because of vision troubles. It is set up to pull gooseneck, but has never been worked. It has 30,000+ miles on it, and looks like it came off the lot yesterday. Of course, I haven't seen it up close, so a visit will tell if it is as good as it sounds. The asking price is $14,400, so it warrants a visit.
So, I am thinking that I am about the become a Ford owner again. That is fine by me- the Dodge has done me well, and I believe that the Super Duty will, too. My father has the same truck, different color. I am well versed in them, so there is also a comfort level going to this truck. I know about the fuel mileage, and have weighed that. I don't drive a lot of miles per year because I work at home (5,000-7,000, at the most), so fuel costs aren't as big of a consideration as it could be. I am stoked about the 6 speed- my Dodge is an automatic, which I hate. The transmission has been strong and dependable (rebuilt before I bought it), but I have never liked an auto. So, the transmission is worth the extra fuel, to me.
I look forward to being a contributing part of the community here at FTE. I am pretty active on Sigtalk, and really enjoy fellowshipping with people that I would otherwise never cross paths with.
