Intro
Been a reader of the forum since I bought my 2017 F-250 Lariat Ultimate in February, just before the Covid shutdown... upgraded from a Tacoma and enjoy the new truck allot more. Always disliked the weird seating position in the Tacoma; very uncomfortable for long drives. What did the Tacoma in was when I tried towing my 4x4 project with it, scary to say the least! Gutless and inadequate brakes even though I was under the tow limit. Put KO2 DT tires on the F250 right away, followed that with a fox steering stabilizer and fox 2.0 shocks front and back.
Meet Butterscotch
Hello everyone. Last year I started watching this guy from ViceGripe Garage, and his ability to resurrect abandoned cars and trucks inspired me to give one a try. It took me a few months until I found one that didn't require metal work and minimal paint for now. I think I really lucked out because a few weeks ago I came across with this 1976 F250 XLT Ranger Special Camper with a 390FE engine and 130 thousand miles on it. The body is straight and with some minimal surface rust. With the exception of a stereo, the truck looks unmolested. I'm the third owner and I'm pretty stocked about it. A few years ago I rebuilt a 1986 e30 and even though there is a large e30 community in the PNW, parts aren't cheap. Things seem different with my truck and it is a very pleasant surprise.
So now I'm working on getting the engine to idle since It hasn't been run since 2008 or so, I already replaced the spark plugs and wiring, distributor, rotor and starter; but the fuel tank smells like varnish and the carburetor (Holley 4160) has a small leak below the choke area, The engine runs when I add fuel directly but the fuel filter I added prior to the fuel pump is full of dark "fuel", so I need to build a temporary fuel tank and run it so that I can test the diff, tranny, brakes and purge the old fuel out of the tank (tips are welcome).
I'm looking forward to be an active member of this forum.

New member introduction
Hi to all members. New member, long time lurker, posting finally.
I have a 2001 f250 superduty xl 4x4 with 225,000 on the clock.
It has a 5.4l 2v. Runs like a top.
I'm the second owner, and have been had it for a little over a year.
It had 216,000 mi. when I got it.
Aside from new Falken Wild Peak tires, a new exhaust and 2 coil packs, one brake caliper,I haven't done much
over the year. It has been a good work truck and daily driver. My other truck is a 1988 Toyota land cruiser fj62.
The only downside so far, is the dreaded oil leak from the passenger side head gasket.
It drips onto the exhaust below and stinks of burning oil and occasionally smokes.
I've read every thread and lots of people have had this issue, and seem to live with it.
The obvious solution is to fix the head gasket , but with 225,000 mi. it would be a waste.
I plan to put in a power train reman when this one finally dies.
My solution thus far has been some header wrap on the exhaust pipes below the drip and 2 cans of high temp. silicon
sprayed onto the wrap.
I keep a fire extinguisher handy.
Anyway, Thanks to the forum and all the good help found here.
Thanks, brian

Hey Everyone! I'm a Newbie to FTE and just want to introduce myself. My name is Bruce and I'm the Proud new owner of a 1969 Ford F250 Ranger Camper Special! She has the original 360 v8 with automatic trans. Previous owner had autofab I beam lift put in and with larger spings and aluminum blocks in the rear. It runs hot!! i have a new 4pc radiator and waterpump coming in two days! so excited to breathe some life into this truck! looking forward to learning some stuff! on here!
Hello FTE memebers. I actually don't own a Ford at the moment. I joined because I mainly work on Ford vehicles and have been visiting this website for years when I get stumped on the Power Strokes. I work for the city (small town) as a auto mechanic and 80% of what we have in our fleet is ford. I work on everything from police cars to garbage trucks but my main job is to keep the Power Strokes going. (Nobody else there likes to work on them lol) We do use Ford IDS and workshop manual. The cool thing about my job is although most mechanic jobs are flat rate, I get paid by the hour and usually time isnt a big issue. I get to experiment a little and read about stuff and this website has been a huge help. So a big thank you to all the technicians here. I've learned alot from you all. I hope now I can give back a little. <3
Howdy, FTE. I'm new to the forum but I've had my 2008 F250 since I drove it off the lot. 186K miles later we're still doing fine. Well, mostly fine, but that's what I came looking for is some advice to help me give her some TLC and get her back in tip-top shape for the next 100K.
See you 'round.
Jeff
See you 'round.

I looked at it today and noticed the trim is warping out pun either end and the angle I took pic from made it look off . When you look straight at it it’s lined up nice.
thank you for providing a place to learn and share information on the fords we drive. my first car was a used 1965 mustang and I have owned 1957 f100, thunderbirds, LTD'. My first new truck was a 1998 F250 POWERSTROKE and I loved that truck. now i have owned 2011,12,13,14,15 f150 Eco boost. Thanks to this forum and all the contributors to help work out some issues with the turbochargers. looking forward to posting my results on repairs and modifications and reading what others have done.
