You've got a $10,000 engine and your worrying about $20.00? I understand trying to save money, but trying that on such a critical component as a fuel filter on a diesel engine. As a diesel tech for 35 year's (not Ford) I mean IH, the fuel system can and will be damaged by small particulate matter. The injectors on probably all Diesel engines have clearances of a millionth of an inch. You don't want a piece of dirt to pass through this. It will wear out the fuel pump, the injectors and possibly your cylinder walls. Because a worn out or damaged injector will pass more solid fuel instead of atomized fuel and will cause fuel dilution. Which will thin your oil. not good. I'm not trying to be a A-- H--- just trying to give you a little heads up. Shoot even my 50 year old Massey Fergason tractor gets the best fuel filter that the Local John Deer Tractor shop sells. If you can find an inexpensive quality name brand filter that's good.
