Measure the distance from the inside of the rim to the closest point on the caliper. If it's more than 1/2" your 17s should fit. I would make sure that there is going to be a little bit of a gap between the caliper and rim for any imperfections, balancing weights (depending on the kind you use) and cooling.

Yes, a buddy of mine runs the 17" 951s on his 06.
17" KMC XD Series hit (at least the Diesels did on his truck), I think Eagle Alloy 17" hit as well.
Personally I recommend 18s for better tire selection, but that normally only applies to oversized tires.
