power problem

I Recently replaced my alternator on my 2000 Ford Ranger at 145,000 miles. The real problem is that it is still draining my battery. I noticed the A/C doesn't work well at all. As soon as the lights and A/C turned on it loses all power.

Any ideas on what I should do?

Welcome to FTE.

Why not consider running this puppy by your favorite autoparts store, for a no cost, in vehicle, electrical system checkup, via their portable electrical system tester.

This equiptment correctly used, can properly check for parasitic drain, like shorted battery cells or leaky alternator diodes, or stuck on brake light, underhood or glove box light switch, or faulty addon afermarket equiptment, as well as load test the electrical system to make sure the alternator, battery & cables can handle the load.

In other words it should be able to quickly sniff out your problem/s, unless you want to try & do it yourself, spending some time with a multimeter & doing some electrical system parasitic drain & load test trouble shooting.

A couple of thoughts for pondering.
Let us know what you find.

If you don't have or know how to use A volt meter then take it and have it looked at.
