You don't have to worry about that, the reason I inherited it is the mower deck was damaged beyond a reasonably fixable point. At first when I did it, there was a bunch of pairs of burn spots about a foot apart all around the yard. When it sits and runs in the grass, it burns it enough to kill it. It doesn't do it if your moving though.
I think the reason it doesn't is because they idle high, due to the way the governor is made. My buddy had a 16hp vtwin years ago he took the governor off (to make it go fast) and it would lope, because it would idle down farther. It also would blow up faster, because it revved WAY high. Only took about 2 hours of mud running that poor thing to blow it up
