I have not been able to purchas mine yet seeing as how the jobs is going to cost me around $4,000 or so. I have heard other who have had them and never a complaint yet. A couple of them were used on the salt flats here in Wendover.
Gear vendor makes under and over drive units that bolt up to the back of the trany.Im wanting to change mph in direct gear only thus bringing down my rpms.I understand they are expensive but so is gasoline.I have 3.55 ratio gears.I like the way it pulls 1-4 just wanted to go with an overdrive unit.Gear Vendors under/overdrive transmissions the most awarded auxiliary transmissions. Dre -- They don't show one on their website for the Mazda tranny, just the 4-speeds and the heavier-duty 5-speeds like the ZF.
Chop -- I test-drove an '89 (I think) F-250 S/C with the IDI 7.3 diesel and C-6 that had a GV in it. It worked beautifully and if you didn't know it wasn't factory, you wouldn't know, at least from the perspective of driving it. That's just how well thought-out the GV units are. If you need it and can handle the cost (which is too rich for my blood, although I'd love to have one), by all means do it!
