My 06 F-250 (7500 lbs) can run a 6.5 0-60 (2wd with building boost), and my 07 F-350 (10000 lbs) only runs a 9 sec 0-60(2wd building boost), it has an ats torque converter which is suppost to take time off 0-60 runs. Im just wondering what is everyones 0-60 times to figure out if my 06 is supper fast or my 07 is just slow b/c of its extra weight.
fyi- the 9 sec time is with the edge not the superchip i just got it last week and havent ran it yet.
how do you like your ats converter? Can you notice a big difference with it?
I put it in the truck so it would pull itself at idle, i get out of the truck and let it drive its self wile i feed hay off the back. It is hard to tell a difference it pulls better but that is about it. I dont think it was worth it but i have it now.
Being a dually should give it more traction and since you are running 2wd it should help, especially at that kind of weight.
That is correct, my 06 i have to do it just right to avoid spinning and the 07 i just go ball to the wall and it doesnt spin, but could the weight of the 2 extra tires that it has to turn slow it down or is that not that big of a deal. Another thing on tire weight is it has steel wheels and my 06 has aluminum wheels. Is it ok to do a hard launch in 4wd? is there a chance of breaking something?
Lots of people seem to do it and get away with it. IMO its not so much TQ that breaks parts its traction that does. I wouldnt do it on the dually, but that is just me.
I think the extra traction of duals would be more advantageous than the extra weight (for 0-60), but I could be wrong.
I think the extra wheels and weight would both slow it down. It has more resistance against it on the ground to get going. Plain and simple, the heavier it is, the slower its gonna be when you are working with roughly the same hp and tq. Especially when there is a 2500lb difference in the trucks, thats a lot, lol.
The weight of the extra wheels/tires/bigger hubs for the dually is all unsprung weight too. It is much harder to get unsprung weight moving. Having wheels that are 100 pounds heavier could be the equivalent to carrying an extra 300 pounds in the bed.
