I think it goes two o-rings in, then the plastic ring, then the pipe slides in.

Those pcitures show that I've been doing my fittings incorrectly; I've been putting the two O-rings together side-by-side, and the spacer afterward. No leaks yet, though.

Autozone pulls these service photos right from the FoMoCo Service manuals/cds

but who's to say Ford is right? the company that producted the Pinto and Human Blow Torches

worked all day putting on new electric trim tabs on the boat. got silicon seal caulking all over my plastic lens reading glasses. now everything is fuzzy and i'm in a fog.

I think I've seen packages of new clips at my local auto parts stores (Pep Boys or Kragen). But if you managed to pull those connectors apart without breaking them, you should be able to re-use the old clips.

If you were able to pull off those brittle clips without breaking them.

I think you'd be a miracle worker .

Unfortunately, if you were to break anything while taking those fittings apart, it would be the plastic ends that the clips latch onto. In that case, you would need new hoses, which would come with new clips.

well, all these fittings with o-rings are good for plants for instant assembling on conveyer whre a minute worth hundreds buks..... You can cut these fittings and use made of steel clamps. You may use any coolant rated hose for heater core.
