I have a 1999 super duty 2wd with a power stroke and i am getting ready to replace my front coil springs and was wanting to know if there are any tricks to taking the old ones off and putting on the new ones?
Only thing I can think of is, disconnect the shocks and see how much you can jack it up before the brake lines get stretched too far - might have to remove the caliper from the caliper bracket. Other than that, I don't see TOO much of a problem with it.
From the '01 service manual:
1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to «Section 204-04».
2. Using a suitable jack, support the front axle assembly.
3. Remove the nut and detach the shock from the mounting stud.
4. Remove the upper spring retainer.
5. Lower the front axle until the spring is free of the upper spring seat.
6. Using an extension through the top of the spring, remove the lower spring retainer.
7. Remove the front spring.
