oil pan

i have a 76 f100, 390, c6 and a quick question. on my oil pan, the drain plug is about an inch above the frame, should it be like this? its almost impossible to change the oil right, because it drains straight on to the frame and plus its extremely hard to get a wrench to it. like always, any help is appreciated!

thanks

It's a common problem; sometimes changing the oil with the truck on jack stands will give you enough of an angle to prevent this.
