I have a noise that sounds like it is coming from tthe bellhousing on my 2003 F350 with the V-10 6speed manual. The noise sounds like the flywheel rubbing on the tin spacer between the engine and transmission. The local Ford dealer has never heard this before on a superduty(of course!!). The noise is not consistent. It will come and go and does it with the clutch pedal in or out. Has anyone experienced this kind of noise? I am planning on tearing it apart in a couple of weeks and want to know what to look for. Thanks.
Pull the inspection cover, and look inside with a flashlight - the separator plate might have warped. OR - the bendix on the starter is not retracting all the way and rubbing the teeth on the flywheel.

Weird... definitely report back!
yea ILL be on it this weekend took it back where they did the work and removed the cover and checked all the TC bolts all were tight looked up inside as best we could ( I vote thats its the rebuild stater too) the tech. on this job is my son so I dont think theres any B.S. but we will see
My bet is a cracked flywheel. Remove two of the torque converter bolts and I'll bet you'll see a crack going from one hole to the next. Common problem that fits the sound you listed.
